Tour schedule

7:20-9:00

Your day begins with a comfortable pick-up between 07:20 and 09:00, as you leave Heraklion behind and head towards the mountains. As the landscape changes, you’ll discover a different side of the island, one shaped by tradition, nature, and timeless village life.

Kera Kardiotissa Monastery

Your first stop is the peaceful Kera Kardiotissa Monastery, nestled in the hills. Known for its remarkable frescoes and sacred icon of the Virgin Mary, this historic monastery offers a unique glimpse into Crete’s spiritual heritage. Take time to explore its interior, admire the artwork, and enjoy the serene atmosphere of this special place.

Lasithi Plateau

Continuing your journey, you’ll ascend to the stunning Lasithi Plateau, located at around 850 meters above sea level and surrounded by the majestic Dikti Mountains. As you drive through the plateau, you’ll pass traditional villages, fertile fields, and the famous white windmills that once powered the island’s agricultural life. Along the way, there will be scenic stops to capture the beauty of this unique landscape.

Village of Psychro

In the village of Psychro, you’ll visit a traditional pottery workshop, where local artisans keep centuries-old techniques alive. Watch how handcrafted ceramics are created and experience an authentic part of Cretan culture, with the opportunity to browse and purchase locally made products.

Tzermiado Village

The journey continues to Tzermiado, the main village of the plateau. Here, you’ll have free time to relax, stroll through the charming streets, and enjoy lunch at a traditional taverna (optional). Surrounded by mountain views and local life, this is the perfect place to slow down and take in the essence of rural Crete.

After a day full of culture, scenery, and authentic experiences, you’ll begin your return journey in the early afternoon, arriving back at your accommodation between 14:45 and 15:25.

16:00 - 17:00

Upon the conclusion of the tour, participants will board the buses and head back to their respective points, where they were originally picked up in the morning. The duration of the return journey to each hotel may vary depending on traffic conditions and the individual pick-up locations for each participant.
