Preveli became famous during the 1960s and 1970s as a hippie destination and today remains one of the most iconic beaches of Crete. This tour perfectly combines nature, relaxation, adventure, and unforgettable scenery.

Tour schedule

8:00 - 10:30

Morning Pick-up:

Participants will be collected from designated pick-up points within the specified time frame. The exact pick-up time will be determined based on the location of your accommodation.

Scenic Drive Across Crete

Relax during the journey through the Cretan mainland as we travel towards the south coast of the island. Along the way, admire traditional villages, olive groves, mountains, and beautiful natural landscapes.

Breakfast & Rest Stop at Skaleta

Before arriving at Preveli, we make a short stop in Skaleta for breakfast, coffee, and restroom facilities.

Arrival at Preveli Tropical Beach

Upon arrival, the bus stops at the nearest accessible parking area overlooking the breathtaking coastline and towering cliffs — an ideal photo opportunity.

To reach the beach, we follow a walking path with approximately 300 steps descending towards Preveli Beach. The walk takes around 15 minutes and offers spectacular panoramic views of the Libyan Sea and the surrounding gorge.

Free Time at Preveli Beach

Enjoy approximately 4 hours of free time in one of Crete’s most unique natural settings. Swim in the crystal-clear waters, relax on the beach, or explore the famous palm forest growing along the riverbanks.

The Grand River (Megalos Potamos) creates a small lagoon before meeting the sea, offering visitors the chance to walk through the shaded palm forest and discover the tropical side of Crete. The combination of river, beach, canyon, and palm trees creates an unforgettable exotic landscape.

19:00-20:00

Return Journey: After your free time at Preveli, we return by foot to the bus and begin our journey back to Heraklion.

A short stop is made during the return journey for refreshments and rest.

Evening Drop-off: Return to the Heraklion area approximately between 18:30 and 19:45 depending on traffic and pickup location.

  • Preveli Beach does not offer umbrellas or sunbeds for rent. However, visitors can enjoy a shower facility on the beach and find natural shade under the palm trees and tamarisks.
  • Preveli Beach features a tavern and a small shop under palm trees, offering snacks, meals, and beach essentials, though at higher prices. Many guests opt to bring their own drinks and snacks. Occasionally, a fruit truck at the beach entrance sells refreshments.
  • Damnoni Beach is well-equipped with umbrellas and sunbeds, complemented by several Greek tavernas. Additionally, a van selling hot dogs and gyros can be found a short distance away.
